Who we are
This website seeks to provide county and U.P.-wide news and analysis for local Republicans, and anyone interested in politics in general. It tries to bridge the information gap in a region where there is a shortage of print and TV news. The site is focused on the Republican Party in Menominee County, the U.P. and to a lesser extent the Michigan GOP. The news section is intended to highlight articles and reporting on state and local issues that may be of interest to the reader. Some articles and sections are intended to counterbalance unreliable or bogus information found on Facebook and Telegram.
Statements, analysis, or links to third party sites on this site do not signify the endorsement of the Menominee County Republican Party, any member of the party, or the Michigan Republican Party.
The webmaster is an amateur website developer who is operating this site for free to learn how to build and run a website. This is also an adventure in amateur journalism. I am learning how to use Adobe Photoshop, ArcGIS Pro mapping and analysis software (for examples, please see the map graphics in the election sections), and a bunch of other apps.
What we (don’t) collect
We are not intentionally collecting or storing any personal information regarding people who visit the website. Hence the site has no log in requirement, cookies, comments, or blog capabilities. I am using site analytic tools from Jetpack, Google, and Bing to get anonymous user visitation data and hopefully improve our search ratings. We don’t want to police what people say or have the responsibility to answer inquiries about what we are doing with things you provide to the site. There are plenty of other places on Facebook and Telegram where people can do that.
Be advised
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.) from other websites such as YouTube. Such embedded content behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Various sections of our site may have links to other third party sites. I will try to make these third-party links obvious because they refer to or explain something not on our site. Once you leave this website, you may be tracked just like any other user on the Internet.
We reserve the right
The big questions for us is how many people are visiting the site and will we encounter problems with trolls trying to interfere with the site’s operations. The current software does count the number of visits we get but provides few details. If we need more information, we may implement more sophisticated commercial type of site visitation and tracking software. This is software that most eCommerce sites use for their business operations. If we have a troll problem, we may implement security software that checks for spam and security threats.
